Troop 25 of Dracut, MA?

posted Nov 18, 2010, 9:21 AM by Unknown user   [ updated Nov 26, 2010, 8:21 AM ]

As many people know we have been Troop 25 of Lowell, MA for MANY years. However, due to a sponsorship merger we are officially registered as a Dracut, MA troop. Moving forward we will be officially and publicly known as Troop 25 of Dracut, MA but will continue to meet at the St Louis Elementary School in Lowell.

It is important to know that the leadership and committee has NOT been replaced and the troop continues to operate as we always have. Only our town of registration has changed.

2010 Youth Protection Training

posted Oct 8, 2010, 1:45 PM by Unknown user

Boy Scouts of America announced important changes to its Youth Protection policies. The purpose of these changes is to increase awareness of this societal problem and to create even greater barriers to abuse than already exist today in Scouting.

Effective June 1, 2010:

  • Youth Protection training is required for all BSA registered volunteers, regardless of their position.
  • New leaders are required to take Youth Protection training before submitting an application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time the application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins.
  • Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer's Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be re-registered.

To find out more about the Youth Protection policies of the Boy Scouts of America and how to help Scouting keep your family safe, see the Parent's Guide in any of the Cub Scouting or Boy Scouting handbooks, or go to

Ad Altare Dei Program

posted Oct 7, 2010, 10:48 AM by Unknown user   [ updated Nov 3, 2010, 9:30 AM ]

We are very pleased to be able to offer the Ad Altare Dei program this year. This is a serious time commitment starting October 14, 2010 and ending with a board of review April 10, 2011. The cost for the program is $5 for the book and $15 for the emblem (we are looking into sponsors to defray the cost of the emblems). All meetings will be held at Mr. Judge’s home Thursdays from 7:00pm to 8:30pm and Saturdays from 9:00am to 12:30pm. As the parent, we need you to attend the Oct 14th meeting and provide your written consent.

The recipients of this emblem will be awarded their medals by Cardinal Sean O’Malley at the Holy Cross Cathedral in
Boston. The Mass and award ceremony will be on May 15th, 2011.

The Ad Altare Dei co-counselors will be Mr. Bill McCauley and Mr. Ned Judge.

We have 6 openings available on a first come first serve basis. Please email Ned Judge at to
reserve a spot. Confirmation of your reservation will be sent. Likewise, you will be notified if all spots are filled.

You can view the full flyer which includes the schedule on our Resources page.
